PortAventura Theme Park - Salou
PortAventura (or Port Aventura) is Spain's biggest and best theme park. When visiting Salou a trip to the PortAventura theme park is a must, A walk through the different themed area's brings you to the many rides and attractions, enough to keep any age group happy. Money can be saved by purchasing multi-day tickets to the park as I am sure the kids will want to return.
The best time to visit PortAventura is a week day, with weekends and public holidays seeing a rush to the park which can result in some lengthy queues. PortAventura can be easily reached from Salou with a short bus, taxi, or roadtrain ride. A taxi from Salou to the park costing between 4 and 5 euros. PortAventura is also a great place to visit over Christmas and Halloween, where the park is transformed with some PortAventura magic. Halloween sees the park in ghoulish detail. Do not be surprised to see zombies and mummies strolling around the park with you. No expense is spared with the detail and in some places it may just get a little too realistic so have your wits about you.
Christmas at PortAventura is a magical time with snow covered buildings and illuminations, not forgetting Santa himself making sure everyone has an unforgettable time.
The Dragon Khan roller coaster with its 8 inverted loops towers above the landscape and is often the first glimpse visitors to Salou have of the theme park.The twin track roller coaster Stampida is entirely made of wood for that bone shaking experience. The Hurakan Condor's 100m drop will leave your stomach behind as you plummet towards the ground.
The Tutuki Splash!, Rapids and Log flume will give you a good drenching and help you cool down from the summer heat. Furius Baco (Previously known as the Accelerator) 135km/h in 3 seconds, feel the sensation and rush as you hurtle over lakes trees and ditches. As well as the rides there are also up to 100 shows a day, From the Wild West Stunt Show to Chinese acrobats, you'll be amazed at the variety and entertainment. One show not to be missed is Fiestaventura, a pyrotechnical extravaganza which has been named "Best Live Show in the World". All the shows have that special PortAventura detail.As well as PortAventura there is also the Costa Caribe Water Park. When there is glorius weather to enjoy, what better than wild adventures in the cool waters at the Caribbean themed Caribe Aquatic Park. With water slides, wave pools, and shady palm trees to keep you cool. The children will love this excellent water adventure park.
